It’s been raining a whole lot here in Kansas City. We haven’t had many sunny or dry days so far this summer. I’ve been trying to come up with fun indoor yet summery things to do as a family and last week we made an amazing weeknight dessert! The girls helped me whip up these toasted marshmallow s’mores milkshakes – all without having to go outside in the rain! These milkshakes are so rich and creamy and if you like s’mores, you absolutely have to try it for yourself!
First, I headed to Walmart to grab my s’mores ingredients. There is a giant display, so you can’t miss it!
You only need the s’mores basics and a few other ingredients that you probably already have on hand.
First, you will want to toast your marshmallows. The key to perfect indoor toasted marshmallows is to load them up on a skewer and turn on the stove burner. They turned out perfectly.
Toasting the marshmallows before adding them to the shake is a must to acheive that authentic s’mores campfire flavor!
Next, grab your Hershey’s chocolate. You can use as much or as little as you want. I ended up using about 1 1/2 bars.
Melt it in the microwave until it’s smooth.
Scoop out about 3 cups of your favorite vanilla ice cream…
Add the marshmallows, ice cream, about 6 graham cracker squares and 1 1/2 cups of milk to a blender.
Blend until smooth. You can add more milk if it needs to be thinned out, but we like our shakes nice and thick. Drizzle the melted chocolate on top and serve!
These shakes are VERY rich, so this recipe makes about 4 small shakes, but it will definitely be just the right amount!
Here is the full recipe:
TOASTED MARSHMALLOW S’MORES SHAKE
9 toasted Jet Puffed marshmallows
4 Kraft graham cracker squares
1 Hershey chocolate bar
3 cups vanilla ice cream
1 1/2 cups milk
Toast the marshmallows over a stovetop burner until golden brown. Melt the chocolate. Blend the marshmallows, graham crackers, ice cream and milk until smooth. Drizzle melted chocolate on top and serve. Add more milk if needed.
Do you have any indoor S’mores ideas? I’d love to hear them!
