In celebration of the last day of May, I thought I’d share some of my
“favorites” that I’ve been enjoying throughout the month. I love it when
other bloggers do this, it gives me ideas and inspiration for different
books, products or websites! So, here are my May favorites!
I have been enjoying a few new(ish) food items this month. The first, is steel cut oatmeal.
I know this isn’t new by any means, but it is to me. I’ve been wanting a hearty and healthy breakfast option and have never been a huge oatmeal fan. I can’t stand the mushy texture. So, I thought I’d try steel cut oats. Since it takes so long to cook, I make a big batch on Monday and keep the leftovers in the fridge. It heats up great with a little milk, and it still has a nutty texture. I enjoy mine with almond milk, flax meal, pure maple syrup, sliced almonds and blueberries. So good and healthy!
My next obsession is this green tea from Trader Joes:
It’s so refreshing and flavorful on a warm day but with zero calories and all the health benefits of green tea!
My last food item is the california rolls also from Trader Joes.
My favorite are the brown rice ones. They aren’t the most frugal thing in the world, but they are so yummy for a lunch or even dinner option when Reid is out of town and I don’t feel like cooking.
I like to keep things pretty simple when buying and using beauty products, but I’ve found two that I thought were worth mentioning.
The first is the Yes To Blueberries Daily Repairing Moisturizer. I love that it is SPF 30 and I bought it at the most random place: Tuesday Morning. I was in there looking for something different and found a section of quality natural beauty products for very cheap. Score!
The other beauty item I’ve been enjoying is Burt’s Bees Soap Bark & Chamomile Cleansing Cream. It’s very refreshing and tingly and is a nice simple cleanser.
I’m always finding new inspiring blogs…especially during those late night feedings. If you haven’t heard of I Heart Organizing, you must check it out.
It is one of the most inspiring and motivating blogs out there. And everything about it just beautiful. I am not a naturally organized person, so I have found this blog to offer a plethora of tips and tricks for me that I never would have dreamed of on my own.
The Small Things Blog is another one that I’ve become addicted to. I’m not much of a beauty blog reader, but this one is great! Kate is a hair stylist and has so many amazing hair tutorials and videos. I love watching them even though I rarely have time to dry my hair let alone curl it! She is just so cute and has great style. It’s a fun read!
Another outcome of late night feedings is the discovery of Youtube channels. I know they existed, but never really explored them (except for our Youtuber friends, The Nive Nulls–check them out, they are basically famous!). There are some great ones out there that are fun to watch!
Clean and Delicious with Dani Spies is a great, informative Youtube Channel. It’s basically a cooking show on Youtube. She creates lots of yummy and healthy recipes. I’ve already made a few of them and they are great. She is fun and pleasant to watch too.
Mama Natural is a crunchy Youtuber that has lots of fun videos about all things…crunchy and natural. Very informative!
And that is about it. I was going to add 2 books that I’m reading, but since I’m not finished with either one yet, I guess I can’t claim them as “favorites”. Hopefully I will be done next month to share them with you!
