I have decided to take the plunge and participate in the One Room Challenge for our master bedroom. If you don’t know about the ORC, it is a 6 week challenge where participants completely makeover an entire room in their home and share their progress week by week. There are both guest participants and featured designers participating. I have always loved following along with my favorite bloggers during the One Room Challenge, but this is my first time participating as a guest participant myself. I thought this would be a great way to jump back into blogging after my 2 year break. Today I’m sharing my plans for our master bedroom as well as a master bedroom mood board that I’ve created for inspiration!
To give you some context, here is our master bedroom currently:
In the 2 years that we have lived here, we have done absolutely nothing with this room and have put zero effort into it whatsoever. Everything in the room is just leftovers from our old house. I didn’t even bother to clean anything up before the photo so that you could get a real life look at the current sad state of the bedroom!
My goal (as always) is to spend as little money as possible without sacrificing the look and feel that I want to go for. I will be DIY-ing or thrifting most of the elements in the room. I have already scored some amazing thrifted finds and I have some DIY projects underway as well! I can’t wait to share everything that I have planned.
Here is a mood board that I created with some ideas for the master bedroom:
I have a habit of painting every wall in our home either white or very light gray, so I have decided to step out of my comfort zone and go bold with one wall in the room. I will share the painting results next week, but so far I’m loving it! I also am planning to DIY a lot of the elements that you see in the mood board, but I will share my inspiration resources below.
Master Bedroom Mood Board Resources
Wall Art – This will be a DIY
Bedside Tables – I will be repurposing some tables I already have to resemble these
Chair – I thrifted a similar one for $40!
Rug – Found this on crazy sale last week
Bench – This will be a DIY
Ladder Shelf – Hoping to DIY this as well
Accent Wall – Salamander by Benjamin Moore
Other Walls – Simply White by Benjamin Moore
Those are my plans! Like I’ve said, my goal is to buy most things second hand or DIY them. I have already been searching FB Marketplace and thrift stores for what I need and some DIY projects are already underway. I can’t wait to share everything with you along the way.
