My 5yr old Lula no longer naps. We try to do a quiet time where she listens to books on CD or quietly colors, but that only lasts so long. I try to use nap time to work on blogging and do some cleaning. I decided to incorporate Lula into helping me clean and she LOVES it! It also motivates me to do some housework when she is always asking to clean!
I set up a little job jar:
Inside, I just printed different jobs on slips of paper that I knew she could do. Here is my list, I’m sure I will add to it in the future:
- clean door knobs
- wipe down baseboards
- dust surfaces
- scrub tub
- wash toys
- wipe down play kitchen
- wipe down booster chair
- wipe down table
- dust knick knacks
- fold blankets and fluff pillows
- dust lamps and lightbulbs
- wipe down bathroom counter
- clean light switch plates
- 15 item pick up
Since I use all natural cleaner, I’m not worried about her using my cleaning products. In fact, for the dusting jobs, I just give her this little duster mitt that she can wear on her hand.
For the jobs that involve wiping things down, she uses this all natural cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
I have a new recipe for all purpose cleaner that I’m liking and will share with you soon, but this all purpose cleaner recipe is also great!
She doesn’t always do a perfect job, but I’m often surprised at how well she completes her little tasks. She loves reaching into the jar and finding out what her job will be and usually she wants to do 2 or 3!
