I’m skipping ahead to day 4, since it’s January 4th for my January project – Indoor Activities. Even though it’s only the 2nd project…but I had to get on track!
This a super easy and quick little activity that I saw on I Can Teach My Child and I thought it would be fun to try with my 17 month old.
First, you just gather some colored pieces of paper and then find coordinating objects. Lula (my 3.5 yr old) had fun hunting down yellow, orange and pink objects and placing them on the paper for Jane.
After finding your objects, put them all in a basket and mix them up, then help your toddler place the correct color on the coordinating piece of paper.
I learned that they have to see you do it a few times to understand the concept. Jane had fun with this, although she doesn’t really know her colors yet (see below where she is putting the yellow bow on the orange paper!)
I have just started working on colors with her, so this will be a good little activity to do over and over again. It was fun for Lula as well and kept them occupied for awhile. You can obviously add more and more colors, or just start out with one color. I think it’s a keeper!
