I hinted towards some things coming up this year that terrify me in my One Word post. This TV appearance was one of them. I definitely needed courage. Being in front of people is one of my biggest fears. Some people dream of being on TV, but that is definitely something I had zero desire to do in life, which is why it’s so funny and ironic that the opportunity presented itself a few months ago. The show, Better Kansas City contacted me because they had found my blog and wanted me to possibly do a DIY segment on their show. I went in for a rehearsal about a month ago. They said that I passed my try out and that they wanted me to come back for a live taping. I was so anxious, stressed and embarrassed about the whole thing. So afraid I would fail or just look ridiculous. But, I had to go for it. It ended up going pretty well and once the cameras were rolling, I wasn’t too nervous. It was definitely all an answer to prayer and not on my own strength. This shy introvert couldn’t have done it on my own!
In the grand scheme of things, it was only a 3 minute segment on a local TV show, so it’s really no big deal. But I felt like it was a tiny victory! I demonstrated how to make my Qtip flowers.
Everyone was so nice and gracious on the show, so a big thanks to the Better Kansas City staff! It was kind of fun to see how TV works.
So, now for the part you are probably curious about…here is the clip! Part of it does get cut off at the end (I threw in a plug for my blog in the last few seconds). Enjoy!
