I was in the mood to switch things around on my desk, so I went “shopping” around the house to reuse and revive some things I had lying around. I came up with a few free ways to update my space.
This is what my office area looked like before:
I collected my things…
The white divided container used to be for the girls’ art supplies. The banner was hanging over our mantle and the teacup is a thrift store find. You may recognize the other blue thing. It was the little brass wall hanging pocket from a recent thrift store haul:
I spray painted it robin’s egg blue and white. Now it hangs right beside my computer to store random cords when I’m not using them.
I moved the basket up to the printer to hold journals and notebooks and put my pens and office supplies in the spinning art organizer.
The “create” banner now hangs from my floating shelf over the desk.
I put a fresh piece of fabric on my mouse pad and dressed up the keyboard with some washi tape.
And finally I put the teacup and some other trinkets on a white cake stand.
The cup is great for stashing all of the random stuff like earrings, bobby pins and chap stick.
Do you ever shop around your own house to change things up?
