Recently, at a trip to the dollar store, I was walking down the candy aisle and instantly became inspired by all of the colors and varieties of candy. I had a light bulb moment and had to come up with a way to use all of that colorful candy goodness for a craft! I decided to come up with a DIY garland made out of candy. What better way to make your home festive than using something you can eat?? These garlands would be adorable on the Christmas tree or at a birthday party. And they are fun for kids to help make as well.
Materials Needed For A DIY Candy Garland
For these candy garlands, you will need:
- Embroidery thread
- Awl
- Scissors
- Candy
- Large Needle (a plastic one will work too)
Instructions For How To Make A Candy Garland
1. For gum balls, you will need to poke a hole in them first with an awl.

3. The rest of the types of candy I used can be pierced directly with the needle.
I found a huge variety of colors and shapes at the Dollar Tree, which made this project so inexpensive.
4. Just keep stringing candy onto your embroidery thread.
