One of the things I love about my job is researching new ways to grow my blog. It’s almost like a game and probably really nerdy, but I love it. I have shared some posts in the past about blogging tips because once I find something that works for me, I want to share the love! Blogging should be a community where we help each other, not a place where we compete. That’s what I think anyway. I am always very slow to jump on new social media sites, it took me forever to have an Instagram and I even didn’t jump on Pinterest right away. However, I discovered Periscope this summer just a few months after it was launched. And let me tell you…it has been a GAME CHANGER in my blog growth. I know what you are thinking, “I don’t want yet another social media outlet to keep up with” and I totally agree. The thing about Periscope, is that I mainly just use it to educate myself. I don’t follow friends and family…and I don’t broadcast myself. I have discovered a few scopers that have a goldmine of blogging tips and tricks to share every single day and I have learned SO MUCH. I’m starting to wonder what I would ever do without it.
What is Periscope? A ton of you might be wondering this. It is basically a real time video app where you can watch someone broadcast a video and make comments in real time. The videos are available for up to 24 hours, so you don’t have to always catch them live. But you won’t be able to interact with the scoper by commenting if you watch one on replay. If you have a Twitter account, it’s super easy to sign up and start following people. A lot of bloggers that broadcast on Periscope regularly have seen a huge increase in blog growth because of it. I personally have not tried to regularly broadcast. I will say I did do 2 broadcasts and they were awful. The second one I ended up deleting as soon as it was over! I hate being on camera…but I should never say never. Maybe someday I will start doing it. You can follow me if you want to check out my profile (@homemadeginger) and see who I follow…and maybe catch me if I am ever brave enough to scope again!
My Top 3 Favorite Scopers for Bloggers
Now for the good stuff. I have discovered a handful of scopers that have offered invaluable content on regular basis. I look forward to their scopes daily. I usually catch them on the replay and listen to them (don’t watch while you drive! Duh!) while I’m driving, working out or doing dishes. If you are a blogger and want to learn more, you’ve gotta check out these amazing and brilliant ladies!!
1. Crystal from Money Saving Mom. (@crystalpaine)
I’ve been a big time fan of Crystal for a long time and I was so excited when she started scoping. She does a morning motivation show every morning offering quick life tips for being productive and then she usually does a money making mom scope every afternoon with blogging or business tips. Her following is HUGE and she has a wealth of information to offer. I love her down to earth attitude in spite of how successful she has become and she is very encouraging to me.
2. Tabitha from Inspired Bloggers University (@tabithaphilen)
I found out about Inspired Bloggers University through a Facebook group and decided to jump on one of Tabitha’s scopes one day and I’ve been hooked ever since. She also scopes every afternoon about blogging. She is very in depth and offers super advanced tips and tricks. If you are new to blogging, some of her scopes might be overwhelming but don’t let that stop you! I have learned so much from her and I have incorporated many of her tips in my blog with success.
3. Gina Luker from The Shabby Creek Cottage (@ginaluker)
Gina is amazing. She has a show called “blogging over breakfast” on scope although she may be moving it to Facebook once FB starts their live streaming feature. But she offers TONS of tips about Facebook, SEO, Pinterest and more. Her blog is huge and she is a super hard worker. I have learned so much from her and have seen lots of success and growth in my blog’s Facebook page after implementing her strategies.
4. Chalene Johnson (@chalenejohnson)
Chalene is not a blogger, but offers tons of marketing and business advice. She’s larger than life and is funny too. I don’t watch her scopes as regularly because not all of them apply to me, but the ones I do watch are very informative! Sometimes it’s nice to hear advice from a non-blogging viewpoint for tips and tricks I never would have thought of before.
So, there you have it! Those are my top 3 favorite scopers who offer amazing blogging tips. If you are hungry for more blogging tips, check out some of my other blogging posts:
