The Lula Quilt

Although Lula's quilt has been finished for quite some time, I just haven't gotten around to doing a post on it.

This project is probably the one I'm most proud of. It was my first attempt at a "real" quilt.

My mom helped me come up with the pattern. This was our inspiration!

I love how it looks with the yellow bed I madeover as well as the robin's egg blue walls.

The simple embroidery hoops are also perfect for that spot, although Lula likes to knock them off the walls during naptime.

I even did all the quilting myself! I used my mom's long armed quilter to do this loopy pattern!

And even the back turned out super cute!

I just pieced together some leftover scraps for a simple backing.

Lula loves to lounge on her special big girl quilt. (don't mind the nail polish smudge on her foot, we had just painted her toes!)

Oh, and remember these curtains for the room?

I thought everyone would like to see how they look with the curtain tiebacks I made.

Learning Something New

Reid has been out of town this week, so I've spent some time at my parents' house.  My mom has a long armed quilter and has been teaching me to use it so that I can do Lula's quilt myself (which is all ready to be quilted!!)  I "practiced" a fun loopy design on this quilt that I pieced for New Hope Homes
I really look serious about this quilting thing.

Using the quilting machine was pretty fun, I'm excited to start on Lula's and get it done!

Quilt Top Done!!

I've been working hard on Lula's new quilt and I'm finally done with the quilt top! I got so excited, I took pictures before ironing the seams, so that is why it looks rather rumpled. I absolutely love how it's turning out so far.

Can't wait to post pictures of the finished product! Now to figure out what to do for the back?

The Beginnings of a Quilt

I have finally started on Lula's quilt that will go on her "big girl" bed.  So far,  I think it will be super cute. This is my inspiration for her quilt:

I just loved the modern design of this quilt with the white, bright colors and off center blocks.  You can read more about the quilt above on this blog.  Lula's won't look exactly like this, but same idea.

Here is a little preview of some of the blocks that I've made:

I can't wait to see what it looks like when it's all done!!
