Fabric Collage Wall

We have a big empty wall in our bedroom that I haven't decided what to do with.  I knew I didn't want to spend money on anything and just needed to come up with something to fill the space with stuff I had at home.

I went in the garage and found tons of old canvases from my college art classes.  I decided it would be fun to cover them in some random fabrics and vintage sheets to create a little wall collage!

I also had a few empty frames that I used to mix things up.  I think I like the results.  I actually think I might keep adding canvases to make the collage a little larger.

But this works to fill up the space for now!!

As for how I did it, I simply wrapped the fabric around the canvas and stapled it on the back with a staple gun.  For the frames, the fabric is wrapped around cardboard and then put into the frame. Easy!

A Sunny Headboard

When I made my inspiration board awhile back, I knew I wanted to try to make my own headboard.  After finding numerous tutorials online, we attempted the project!

At first I was going to do the headboard in a yellow and white patterned fabric.  I quickly realized that would be #1 - expensive and #2 - risky because the fabric would have to be perfectly straight when stapling it on.  Since I'm an novice, I found a solid yellow duck cloth for 1/2 off.  I can easily recover it later since I only spent $10 on fabric!

I considered doing a tutorial but I was unsure of myself and how it would turn out.  Also, there are so many great ones online that it would be unnecessary to do yet another headboard tutorial.  Check this one out or this one.

As you can see, there are no pillows yet.  I have the fabric, I just have to make them!  I'm working on a Easter dress this week, then I will do some pillow sewing.  I'm also deciding on what to hang above the bed. Any thoughts?

We found a great way to attach the headboard.  Reid picked up some interlocking heavy duty picture hangers at Lowes (that is most likely not the technical term!)  I even took the headboard off and put it back on all by myself when I repainted the room.  (yes, I painted it gray...twice. more on that later!)

Has anyone else had headboard success?
