I can’t believe that I’m already posting a fall DIY. Didn’t summer just start? It goes by way too fast every year. Although summer is my favorite season, I am looking forward to crisper days and a more consistent schedule with school starting.
I’m not much of a seasonal decorator, but I’ve always loved switching out my wreath for fall. This year, I wanted to create more of a boho vibe by trying a woven wreath with a modern edge. I’ve seen a bunch of different DIY wall hangings on Pinterest, like this round one as well as hoop wreaths, so I tried to combine those two concepts into one fall wreath that will add tons of texture and interest to your front door, wall or even above the mantel!
DIY Woven Wreath
This DIY is so simple to make and you only need a handful of materials that can all be found at one of my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby!
Here’s what you will need:
- Round metal wreath form
- A variety of yarn
- Metal hoop
- Faux air plants, cotton or other fall blooms
- Twine
- Brass spray paint
I wanted my hoop to be brass, so I spray painted both the hoop and the metal wreath form with a few coats of brass metallic spray paint.
Once that was all dry, I grabbed some super chunky yarn and started weaving it in and out of the metal rings on the wreath form, working my way all around the wreath.
Once that was complete, I went in and added a thinner and brighter white yarn and wove it through randomly, just to create a little more texture.
Next, I tied some more yarn strands onto the bottom of the wreath. I used the super chunky yarn, a medium yarn and the thin white yarn again. I also added a giant pom pom. I just made it myself us ing my hand. You can see the tutorial for that in this post.
Then, I tied some yarn around the top of the bronze ring and tied a knot on either side of the woven wreath to keep it from slipping.
Using twine or floral wire, attach some simple air plants, cotton or any faux flower or greenery of your choice to the hoop.
And you have the sweetest, boho chic wreath for fall! It was so easy to make!
