I normally don’t do much for Valentine’s Day decor, if anything at all. Last year I made some copper wire heart photo holders and that was about it. I keep those out year round though! This year, I needed to come up with an easy Valentine’s Day Decor craft that kids could easily do and we crafted up these cute little jars in no time!
I’m a total slacker in the Valentine’s Day department. Even though I’m a “craft blogger” and have posted lots of tutorials using conversation hearts, I have a huge confession. For the past 3 years, we have purchased our Valentine’s at the Dollar Tree. No cute DIY printables, no homemade sweet cut out hearts…just store bought, tacky princess Valentines for $1. And you know what? My girls love it! They don’t care one bit. They love picking out those princess Valentines and I LOVE that they are only $1. I’m not sure what we will do this year. Maybe I will try the DIY route, or maybe I will be a slacker and a cheapskate and hit up my favorite store once again. However, we do have a cute DIY Valentine’s Day decor project and I just raided my craft stash for the materials!
The fun thing about these little jars is that you can make them any size and you can use them for a variety of different reasons. Fill one with candy or fun pens and give as a gift. Or use it as a vase for a few flowers to display as a centerpiece or take to a teacher. So fun! I love these painted mason jars and wanted to make my own spin on it, so this is what I came up with.
Here’s what you will need:
- Jars or vases
- Hot Glue Gun
Tie a knot around the jar with the yarn and begin wrapping it tightly.
Once you have a few inches of yarn wrapped, tie off the other end.
Next, cut out a heart.
Add it to the yarn with a dot of hot glue to keep it in place.
Make a bunch and start filling them with something fun!
The possibilities are endless!
