For those of you that might not know, I’m expecting baby #4 in just a few weeks and it’s a boy this time (we currently have 3 girls). I hadn’t planned on doing anything too involved with his nursery, but it has just kind of come together and turned out super cute. I’m excited to share how I made a DIY wood slice mobile for the crib today. I will have more projects in the future. We went with a vintage camping/outdoorsy theme and this little fish mobile is just perfect!
The beauty of this wood slice mobile is that you could pretty much hang anything from it. I found these wooden fish on clearance at Target and instantly knew that they would make the perfect mobile to go with the camping nursery theme (check out the full nursery reveal)! I already had all of the other materials on hand and it came together so fast.
DIY Wood Slice Mobile
Whatever you want to hang from your mobile!
The first thing we did was attach 3 medium sized eye hooks from the top of the wood slice. Make sure they are pretty equal in distance from each other. Then, tie on the twine to each eye hook. The twine will come together and form another knot at the top.
Next, attach as many eye hooks as you need depending on what you are hanging from your mobile. I had 6 fish, so I attached one eye hook in center and 5 around the edges. Then, tie on more twine and attach your trinkets. My fish already came with eye hooks so it was super easy to just tie on the twine to attach them.
Tie the 3 pieces of twine together in one knot and then tie on the 3 strands to another eye hook in the ceiling or screw. It might depend on how heavy your mobile ends up being.
I think it looks just perfect in this little corner above the crib. This probably goes without saying, but I’m sure I will get comments: We will move the mobile to another area in the room once baby is bigger and able to stand or reaching for things, so don’t worry! So there you have it, a super short post about a super easy baby mobile project.
