I’m back with another Valentine’s Day craft! I shared how to make some copper wire heart photo holders last week, now I’m sharing how to make these super easy gold conversation heart earrings. I discovered my love for spray painting conversation hearts gold a few years ago when I made this gold conversation heart art. The key is to get the sweetart brand hearts because the words are engraved into the hearts and will still show up after you spray paint them. Plus, they taste way better in my opinion and you will have lots of leftovers. DO NOT EAT THE GOLD ONES! I know that goes without saying, but you would be surprised how worked up people can get over craft projects on the internet. I will also say that these earrings are not going to be super durable. They are made of candy and spray paint, not 14K gold. So, it’s the type of thing that you make and wear on one day of the year and it’s fun!
You will need:
- Gold spray paint
- Sweetart conversation hearts
- Super glue
- Earring stud posts
- Mod Podge (optional)
Give those hearts a good coat of spray paint. I would suggest painting the front and back. If you handle them too much, some of the gold may start to rub off. To remedy this, you can give them a coat of glossy Mod Podge to seal everything in.
Use some super glue to adhere the earring posts on the back.
After they are dry, you are finished!
Yay for gold spray paint! I just keep finding new things to revive with this stuff.
