I know we are still a ways away from Halloween, but I have a truly terrifying post for you guys today. Seriously, you will probably need to hide your eyes in a moment. My home is far from perfect and today I’m showing you the ugliest of ugly spaces in my house. It’s….the laundry room. Our laundry is in an unfinished room off of the basement and it’s horrible. I just accepted the fact that it was awful and used it as a place to throw crap that I didn’t know what to do with. But I love looking at those beautiful laundry room pictures on Pinterest. And I got to thinking…maybe with some fabric, paint and accessories my laundry room could actually look halfway decent? Is it possible? Am I crazy? Well, I’m just crazy enough to try. I have 2 gallons of Sherwin Williams paint in a fresh white waiting for me. And I have created a lovely laundry room mood board to keep inspired!
Are you ready to see what it currently looks like?
I didn’t even bother to clean or pick up anything, guys. This is real life. It’s embarrassing. We do have a new washer and dryer which are so pretty. I want the rest of the space to be a nice home for them.
What is happening with the light fixture? I really don’t know. It needs to change.
And our nasty shelves with crap piled on it. Don’t judge. Well, you really probably should judge because it’s unacceptable. I’m on a mission to prove to all of my fellow scary-unfinished-basement-laundry-room people that we can make that space look acceptable and don’t have to recite the Lord’s Prayer over and over to ourselves every time we go down there. (Well, you still can, but not out of fear.)
Here are some ideas I’ve conjured up:
– I’m obsessed with this rug. Maybe I can find a cheap version to throw on the floor!
– This would be a more acceptable light fixture. It’s so pretty!
– A wire basket like this one would be perfect for storing cleaning supplies, loose socks or any other odds and ends.
– I would love a stool down there to sit on while sorting or folding. This one is to die for!
-And because a dreamer has gotta dream, a Lulie Wallace print on the wall would just be over the top.
-I love this red and white striped laundry basket. So much cuter than boring plastic!
Stay tuned for updates on my progress!!
