When I think of summer, I think of trips to the library with my girls. We go at least once a week. We came up with these super easy canvas bags that can be personalized to say anything your heart desires and are the perfect size for toting around library books!

The best thing about Tulip® One-Step Tie-Dye Kit® is that it is mess free and super easy. It comes with gloves as well as the powdered dye already in each bottle. All you have to do is add water and shake! You could also try this technique with traditional fabric dye and water mixed in a spray bottle.

I love using vinyl letters in my DIY projects, like this mini canvas craft for kids. I knew that I wanted to try incorporating some in these spray dyed bags to create fun phrases on the bags. We made reading bags for the library, but you could customize this for anything! These bags would be the activity for a tween’s birthday party.

Step One: First, mix up your dye and put it in a small spray bottle. Make sure to wear gloves so that your hands don’t get stained.

Step Two: Next, I used some vinyl stick on letters and made my wording on the bag.

These letters are great because they stick to the fabric, but are easy to reposition (and don’t lose their “stickyness).

Step Three: Make sure you have newspaper down under your bag and start spraying the dye onto the bag.

Keep adding colors until it looks good. I used 3 colors.

After the bag is dry, peel off the letters!
