You guys know that I’m all about thrifting. Most of my clothes these days have come either from a thrift store or the Target clearance rack. However, attempting to thrift with kids is a NIGHTMARE. You have to be willing to sort through racks and take your time which is absolutely not kid friendly. When I heard about Twice, I was so intrigued. It’s like an online upscale thrift store. It sounded too good to be true.
I want to note, that this is not a sponsored post, I just wanted to honestly be your guinea pig and try out Twice for myself and see if it was worth it then share my opinion. The cool thing about Twice is that you can sell them your own clothing and then get either cash or store credit. You get more if you choose store credit. So, I decided to go through my closet and find some things to sell.
Twice only takes certain brands and everything must be 5 years old or less. I also learned that your clothing needs to be in brand new condition for them to buy them from you. I came up with these things. They are Gap, LOFT, J. Crew and Banana Republic. Everything I sold was originally stuff I bought at thrift stores. And here is a tip: to find out how old something is, look at the tiny tag that is usually inside the side seam. It will have a code that says what year or season it is from.
I requested a selling kit and Twice sent me clear instructions and a bag with paid postage to send everything off. I was impressed by how fast it came and also that it was free for me to ship my stuff.
About a week later, I received an email telling me what they accepted and how much they would pay me for my things. This where I realized that your clothing needs to be basically brand new. They told me some of my things were worn or stained (I didn’t see any stains, but maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough). Even though they only “bought” 4 of my items, I went ahead and accepted their offer. I think they donate the rest. I made about $24 in store credit and took it!
Now it was time to shop with my store credit! I also found a 50% off coupon code and received another $10 in store credit for it being my first time selling stuff. So, with all that I was able to buy 5 really high quality items for only $2 out of pocket!!
Here is how the package looked when it came the other day:
You would NEVER guess that these things are second hand. I was very impressed with the quality of Twice. Everything had a tag, was clean and packaged beautifully. All the items were brand new condition.
Item #1: Gray tank top from Nordstrom (Brand is Pleione). Retail Value: $33.60.
Loved it. A little out of my comfort zone with the animal print, but it’s really cute and I love the zipper detail on the pocket.
Item #2: Gray T-Shirt with Leather detail from Nordstrom. Retail Value: $44.80
I loved this as well. It is maybe the softest shirt I own and I can tell it’s very high quality. I loved the leather details, very different and makes it a little dressier than a normal tee.
Item #3: Yellow shirt with white beading from Banana Republic. Retail Value: $46.39
I also loved this. The color is super bright yellow, but I love yellow so that’s not a problem for me. The beading on the collar is really different and would make this shirt a great choice if I needed something dressy.
Item #4: 100% Linen tank from J.Crew. New with original tags still on it. Retail Value: $65.79
This was probably the biggest steal. It still has the original J.Crew tags still on. I love how it fits and can’t believe I scored this brand new 100% linen top for pretty much free! It looks red in the photo, but is actually a bright orange and white stripe.
Item #5: Gap polka dot top. Retail Value: $35.20
I liked this top, it was probably my least favorite out of the group. I will keep it and wear it, but it’s just a little blah. Still great quality though!
All in all, I really loved my experience with Twice. I was extremely impressed with the quality of products and service. I LOVE the idea of it too. The website is really user friendly and easy to navigate and search for specific brands and sizes. HOWEVER, I do think that if you were to go on the website without any store credit or coupon codes, it would be overpriced. Most of the items I got were between $10 – $16 on the website. While this is a great discount compared to what these items retail for, it wouldn’t be worth it for me. BUT, there are lots of coupon codes out there and if you sell stuff and get store credit, I think it’s totally worth it. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and I am 100% sure I will purchasing things from Twice again. I can’t wait to look for my closet and purge a few more things to send off and get some more store credit.
