Geometric Painted Wooden Earrings

Lately I’ve been interested in jewelry making. As if I need another thing to DIY, right? But I came up with these little wooden stud earrings that I thought would make a fun stocking stuffer idea.

I saw these little wooden buttons at the craft store. I think they are supposed to go in the nail holes of wooden furniture, maybe. I thought they were the perfect retro earring size. I grabbed some stain that I already had on hand and painted them.

After the stain was dry, I used some painter’s tape to tape off straight lines.

I layered on different colors of acrylic paint and various geometric shapes. When everything was dry, I painted a clear coat of varnish over the earrings.

After glueing on some earring backs, they were done!

I would love to do a varnished wooden geometric necklace pendant. How cool and modern would that be?
