This is probably really boring to some of you out there, but I’m still doing it anyway! I have been a little MIA lately on the blog because we just got back from a 9 day vacation (including driving time) to Florida! If you follow me in Instagram, you already know this. Being from Kansas City, this was the first time our girls saw the ocean and it was so fun to see it through their eyes!
We were fortunate enough to get a deal through someone we know at Rosemary Beach, FL. By the way, my husband has been on a 3 month sabbatical (he’s a pastor)…have I mentioned that? Please don’t hate us! It’s been the hugest blessing and downtime for us as a family before Lula heads off to Kindergarten in the fall. His work schedule can be really out of control, so having him home all this time (he has taken several business trips while on sabbatical) has been crazy. Anyway, he goes back to work tomorrow, so the Florida vacation was the perfect way to end this once in a lifetime sabbatical!
Rosemary beach is amazing. It looks like it’s straight out of a tiny village in Europe. Cobblestone roads everywhere, most people riding bikes instead of cars, European style buildings. It was perfection.
We split the drive there into 2 days and stayed in Nashville and went to the zoo there. I don’t recommend that zoo by the way, it was rather disappointing, but we had been up since 3 am, so maybe I was just crabby. When we arrived in Florida the next day, we immediately went down to the beach and I snapped this shot of the girls discovering it for the first time.
We ended up renting bikes for 3 days and loved riding them around everywhere.
Pearl perfected her walking skills in the sand (aren’t new walkers just the cutest??)
We consumed lots of ice cream and fish tacos
We discovered this four headed palm tree – the only one in the world. Weird!
Pearl got her photo taken next to “The Pearl” hotel.
We explored the bay in Panama City…
But most of the time was just spent enjoying the beach. (And I’m purposely not in many photos because I refuse to post pictures of myself in a bathing suit on the internet. Yikes!)
I’m guessing it will probably be years before we have the opportunity to go to the beach again as a family, so I’m so glad we have these memories to cherish!
