Basement Progress: Some Sensible Hues

A very nasty sickness, an out of town trip and MANY coats of paint have kept me from blogging as much as I’d like the past few weeks. However, get ready, because I have a very exciting and dramatic basement update for you all.  If you’ve been following along, you most likely saw my post about making over our very outdated and dark basement. And we’ve finally completed the hardest part…painting endless amounts of trim, walls, and built ins.

What a transformation! Just to recap, here is the basement when we moved in…

Here it was with our stuff trashing the place…

Here it was during our painting process…(getting worse before it gets better)

And here it is now!

I love the white and I absolutely LOVE the wall color. We chose Sensible Hue from Sherwin Williams.

I love the color because it’s so multi-dimensional. In some light it looks green, sometimes it’s more blue and overall it’s a soft gray. It’s just perfect.

We decided to go with the Harmony line of Sherwin Williams paint since it’s such an enclosed space and will be for a playroom.  It’s zero VOC and just more kid and earth friendly. The paint was so amazing and covered GREAT. I’m so glad we went with it.

After painting 1 coat of primer and 4 coats of paint in the woodwork and brick, painting the walls seemed like a breeze.

Here is the other angle of the room. Before:

And AFTER:

Yes, we painted the doors as well. Now, I will show you the other side the room that you haven’t seen yet. We actually have a small kitchen in our basement and our stuff is stashed there right now.

Eventually we will paint those cabinets and clear everything out. But for now, I’m excited to get started on things like light fixtures, curtains, and building some pretty fun stuff for the girls to play with!
