This lip scrub is so yummy (it really is edible!) and leaves your lips feeling SO silky soft and smooth. It’s perfect for winter and you can use it multiple times a day. It is a bit addictive!
I came up with this lip scrub based on ingredients I already had on hand. With peppermint and orange oil as well as some orange zest, it smells just delightful!
To be honest, like much of my recipes, I didn’t really measure anything out. But I will try to guess for anyone out there who likes an exact recipe. Here’s what I used:
DIY Orange Peppermint Lip Scrub
2 TBS Coconut Oil
2 TBS Honey
1.5 Tbs Brown Sugar
5 drops peppermint essential oil
5 drops sweet orange essential oil
1 tsp orange zest
You want your coconut oil to be a bit soft. You can microwave it for 5 seconds. Mix it up with the brown sugar and honey. Add more honey if it seems to hard. You basically just want it to be a thick paste.
Add in your orange zest. This will add some more yummy flavor as well as some additional exfoliating powers (along with the sugar).
Add in your drops of essential oils. You can add more or less, or leave them out all together. The first time I made this I didn’t put in the oils and it still was great.
Mix it all up and you are ready to rub it on your lips. Just rub with one of your fingers for a few seconds and then wipe off. That’s it! The coconut oil hydrates your lips while the sugar and orange zest exfoliate away the dead skin.
I searched everywhere in my house for a cute tiny container with a lid that this could be stored in or packaged up in for a gift, but I couldn’t track anything down. Just imagine the cutest container with a ribbon or washi tape label and it would be a great gift!
