New Sofas and Other Decor Updates

You may recall the great sofa debate from a while back.  We had been wanting to get a new sofa for years and were finally ready to go for it, but the decision was overwhelming! These were some of the sofas in the running:

Well, I’m pleased to announce that shortly before Christmas, we made a decision! We ended up going with a sofa and a loveseat and I couldn’t be happier! Just for drama’s sake….here is a before shot of our old sofa and chair:

And here it is now with the new sofa, loveseat and lighter shade of paint on the walls!

Can you tell which sofas we went with? We ended up with the Clare Sofa from Macy’s. We ended up with this one for a number of reasons. First, it was just my favorite visually. Also, we figured that the firmer and flatter cushions will actually last longer because they won’t get lumpy and saggy.  The sofa also has a 7 year warranty, so if anything gets stained or ripped, it will be replaced! And, true to form, Reid bargained and got a cheaper deal. Did you know that you can negotiate on most big purchases? We ended up getting another $100 off each sofa just by asking!

The wall color is carrington beige by Benjamin Moore and I think it’s perfect. The pillows on the sofas are from Target, and I hope to acquire or make a few more.

I also updated our mantle with a few simple items

That vintage mirror used to be in our bedroom and I decided to move it up to the mantle. I also found this gold ombre honeycomb candle holder at Target for $4 on clearance! Isn’t it so pretty?

My mom made this cute little “create” banner and put it in my stocking. I thought it looked perfect up on the mirror.

I also updated my sunburst mirror...remember this?

And then I moved it into the nursery

But then I recently took it down after I added Pearl’s little gallery wall.

So, I decided to spray paint it bronze and hang it in our front living room/office area.

It gives it a whole new look! (I do need to lower it a bit…for now it’s hanging on a nail that was already there…)

Those are my updates…I’m working on something big in our bedroom. I can’t wait to share it!
