My girls love to ask me all the time…”what do you get when yo mix _____ with ____?” They are very interested in color mixing! This is a trick I did when I was teaching, and I did it with Lula to help her learn her primary and secondary colors.
All you need is an empty egg carton and blue, yellow and red paint. You are going to squirt the paint in every other egg cup. One egg carton is perfect if you have 2 little ones painting…they can each have their own side!
Now, have your child grab a scoop of color from each egg cup and add it to the empty one beside it. So, one scoop of blue and one scoop of yellow make…
Then just repeat until you have all the secondary colors! You will have to grab blue from one end to mix all the way at the other end to get purple. It’s a great mess free and organized way for kids to visually see how primary colors create secondary colors!
