You may remember this wooden highchair I got at a garage sale earlier this summer for only $5. The cushion was dirty and old, so I knew I wanted to do something to spruce it up a bit.
Here is the highchair now that I’ve tweaked it!
The highchair looks good now, but it’s not perfect. You will see later in the post…not all DIY projects on blogs are what they appear to be!
First, I took off the old cushion and spray painted the chair with satin white spray paint.
Then, I unscrewed the top of the chair from the legs and wrapped some cotton batting around the seat to form a new cushion. Some of these pictures got erased, but I stapled the batting on underneath the seat.
Next, I found some leftover home decor fabric and tried to figure out how to get it to wrap around the bottom and wooden rods. I decided to make slits and turn them under and topstitch them.
Everything lined up pretty well, but after I stapled it, I noticed a few spots where you can see the batting peaking through.
Definitely NOT the most professional looking DIY job.
But, I guess it is just a doll highchair that I bought for $5 and made over for free with stuff I already had on hand, so I can’t be too hard on myself!
