For both of our girls' first birthdays, we gave them children's Bibles. Both Bibles are fabulous and I would highly recommend them to anyone, so I thought I'd share them here.
Lula's first B-day Bible that she received was the The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name
She absolutely loves it. She has wanted to read it every night almost since she received it. In fact, we are going to have to buy a new copy soon because the pages are torn and tattered. We often find her in her room, looking at the book quietly. She loves the illustrations. The story is simply and beautifully told and the author ties every Bible story in with Jesus and the gospel message in a wonderful way. I have personally benefited from reading this children's Bible because it tells each story in such a unique way. I think this Bible would be appropriate for almost any age.
We just gave Jane The Big Picture Bible
So far we have loved this Bible as well. Our copy came with a CD, which Lula has enjoyed listening to while she turns the pages on her own. The book is fairly large with big illustrations that do much of the storytelling. Jane has loved looking at the pictures while we read the story to her. This Bible doesn't tell the story as detailed as the Jesus Storybook Bible, so it is for younger audiences, but it really is fabulous and tells each story very well. I would highly recommend it.
There are 2 resources for you if you are in the market for a good quality children's Bible...or even a fun one to have for yourself.
Speaking of such things, I'm on the hunt for a faith-based preschool curriculum. Let me know if you have any suggestions that might work for my 3 yr old!
