The Spring Wreath

I finally got around to completing my spring wreath. I’m happy with the results, so I will share them with you!

Although it’s not spring yet, this gives me a glimmer of hope that it will be here soon! At least it hasn’t snowed in the past week, that is a step in the right direction! I love how green and natural it turned out!

This was my main source of inspiration.

Here’s how I did it:
I bought a large straw wreath (leave the plastic on!) and 3 packs of moss.  The moss isn’t cheap, so save your 40% off coupons and hit up Michaels or Joann’s.

Some moss is more brown and “furry”, but I liked the look of this particular moss as it is very green, shorter and more compact. It’s a cleaner look in the end, but do whatever floats your boat.  Then, just hot glue it all on the wreath.

Next, I made some rolled fabric flowers.  I’ve seen these all over the interweb, so I decided to try it myself.

This is how I made them:
Tear a strip of fabric.

Fold it in half and hot glue the end.

Then, start rolling it up.

Continue rolling and twisting the fabric as you go.  Add a drop of hot glue here and there to keep it together.
Glue down the last bit of fabric on the back, to make it easier for attaching to the wreath.

And you did it!

The next thing I did was paint some branches a light gray color with acrylic paint.

I didn’t get them perfectly covered, I wanted a rustic feel.

Then, I just put everything together with hot glue.  I glued the branches down first.

Then, I layered the flowers on top.

I really do love how it turned out! I wasn’t so sure how I would like it after I glued all the moss down. But, once all the other elements came together, it was just what I had envisioned!

Oh, and I just ripped another strip to hang it from. I decided to keep the frayed edges to go with the look of the rolled fabric flowers.
What spring wreaths are you all whipping up?
