I love Mid-Century Modern pieces. But, they are so expensive! It’s rare to find a great deal on one. I’m so fortunate to have inherited a few pieces from my Granny. Some people have outright told me that they think these pieces are ugly…but I love them! These are 2 of my favorites that Granny had that no one wanted when she moved into a nursing home. I took them and gave them a new home…thanks Granny!
Soon after I grabbed this brass tree, I started seeing similar things for sale at Pier One imports and World Market. I guess Granny was ahead of the game! I researched this online and a vintage large brass tree like this goes for $200 +! It used to hang over our bed in our old house, but now it’s in the dining room.
I love how three dimensional it is.
These little flowers are my favorite!
The other piece is a love it or hate it type of thing. I love it. My husband hates it:
It’s this huge aqua lamp circa 1955. It’s very much a statement piece.
The best part? The base lights up also! Yes, light comes out of those turquoise circles. So awesome.
It’s even signed! I looked this up and there is a Tye of California lamp for sale for $250. Pretty sweet! I really do love it!
You can ‘t really tell from the picture, but the lamp shade is massive. It makes it a little hard to find a spot for it! I have it sitting right beside our couch in the family room.
I also inherited a Mid Century table and chairs from Granny. The table needs some refinishing, which I hope to tackle someday soon. I will be sure to document my progress!
